🦷 Post-Extraction Care: Heal Well, Heal Right
Just had a tooth removed? Proper care in the first 24–72 hours is key to a smooth, pain-free recovery. Here’s your go-to guide for healing after a tooth extraction:
🩸 First Few Hours: Control Bleeding
Bite down firmly on the gauze pad placed by your dentist for 30–45 minutes. If bleeding continues, replace with a fresh one and bite again.
Do not spit, rinse, or use a straw for the first 24 hours—it can dislodge the blood clot and delay healing.
❄️ Reduce Swelling & Discomfort
Apply an ice pack on the outside of your cheek (20 minutes on, 20 minutes off) for the first few hours.
Take prescribed painkillers or antibiotics as directed.
🍲 Eat Soft, Cool Foods
Stick to soft foods like curd rice, khichdi, upma, mashed potatoes, smoothies, or lukewarm soups.
Avoid hot, spicy, crunchy, or hard foods for a few days.
đźš Avoid These During Recovery
No smoking, alcohol, or vigorous rinsing for at least 48–72 hours.
Don’t touch the area with your tongue, fingers, or any objects.
🛌 Rest & Heal
Rest well and keep your head elevated while sleeping to reduce swelling.
Avoid strenuous activity for 24–48 hours.
Report to the clinic after 7 to 10 days for removing the stitches, if placed.
⚠️ Call Us If You Notice:
Persistent bleeding beyond 4–6 hours
