🦷 Root Canal Aftercare: Protect Your Tooth, Support Your Healing

Just had a root canal? Great job taking the first step toward saving your natural tooth! Now it’s time to heal and protect it with the right aftercare. Here’s what you need to know:

đź’Š 1. Take Medications as Prescribed

  • If you’ve been given antibiotics or pain relievers, complete the full course even if you feel better.

  • Mild tenderness or sensitivity is common for a few days and can be managed with painkillers.

🍴 2. Be Gentle With Your Treated Tooth

  • Avoid chewing on the treated side until your permanent crown or filling is placed.

  • Stick to soft foods for the first 1–2 days to avoid irritating the area.

🧼 3. Maintain Good Oral Hygiene

  • Brush and floss gently but thoroughly.

  • Avoid applying too much pressure around the treated tooth for the first couple of days.

👑 4. Don’t Skip the Crown!

  • A tooth that has had a root canal is more fragile and needs a crown to protect it from cracks or reinfection.

  • Schedule your follow-up visit to place the crown—this is not optional.

⚠️ 5. When to Call Us

Contact us if you experience:

  • Pain that worsens after 2–3 days

  • Swelling or pus around the treated tooth

  • A cracked or broken temporary filling

  • Fever or general discomfort

At Crown’d Dental Clinic, we’re here every step of the way—even after your treatment is done. Don’t hesitate to reach out if something doesn’t feel right.
